How to Make Single Layer Fringed Fleece

Step 1

Start with printed fleece 40 inches by 60 inches. Cut off selvedge edge on both short sides. Lay one short side on a flat surface. Place masking tape across the 40 inch side about 5 inches from the bottom of the fleece. Using a pen mark 1 inch spaces across the masking tape, taking care not to mark the fleece.

Step 2

With sharp scissors, cut from the bottom of the fabric up to but not through the masking tape at each 1 inch mark.

Step 3

Carefully remove the tape and place it on the opposite end of the blanket. Repeat cutting off 1 inch of fringe.

Step 4

Remove masking tape and discard.

Step 5

Tie each piece of fringe with an overhand knot, keeping the knot loose and placing it against the fabric (or top of the fringe).

Step 6

Wash your fleece blanket to remove any chemicals used in making fleece.
