Start with printed fleece 40 inches by 60 inches. Cut off selvedge edge on both short sides. Lay one short side on a flat surface. Place masking tape across the 40 inch side about 5 inches from the bottom of the fleece. Using a pen mark 1 inch spaces across the masking tape, taking care not to mark the fleece. (NO FRINGE ON THE SIDES PLEASE)
With sharp scissors, cut from the bottom of the fabric up to but not through the masking tape at each 1 inch mark.
Carefully remove the tape and place it on the opposite end of the blanket. Repeat cutting off 1 inch of fringe.
Remove masking tape and discard.
Tie each piece of fringe with an overhand knot, keeping the knot loose and placing it against the fabric (or top of the fringe).
Wash your fleece blanket to remove any chemicals used in making fleece. No fabric softener to avoid allergies in the recipient.
